I graduated from San Diego State University with a Masters of Science in Counseling with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I opened my own private practice here in Ramona out of a desire to serve the community I reside in. I realized there is a need to help a wide variety of people in and around my community. I offer therapy, hypnosis and life coaching to individuals, couples, families, and adolescents from a diverse background with diverse challenges. Some of these challenges include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic illness, loss, communication and infidelity issues, parenting issues, anger management and many other challenges.
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I can help you with and improve on many emotional, physical and mental discomforts that create challenges in your life. You can read more about the process of hypnotherapy on my hypnotherapy page.
As a certified life coach, together we create and discover all of your unique and special qualities in order for you to reach your fullest potential. Through this process, people have discovered and gained new perspectives and skills to overcome struggles and set backs in their lives and excelled to meet their goals. For more information on this process, go to my other website strategies4life.site.
Before opening my private practice, I worked for International Family Therapy Institute in San Diego. Here I offered parenting and couples workshops along with individual, family, couples, children and adolescent therapy. I had the privilege of serving the Poway and Rancho Bernardo area offering counseling on a sliding fee scale.
For 21 months, I worked at Interfaith Behavioral Health. I was fortunate enough to gain experience working with couples, families, individuals, children and adolescents dealing with communication, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, bipolar and many other challenges.
I owned my own business for seven years where my primary focus was teaching parenting skills to parents and preschool staff. I use Parent Effectiveness Training methodology developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon. I taught a wide variety of skills including: active listening, “I” messages, rule-setting and no-lose methods, value collisions, and roadblocks to communication.
I work from a systemic approach believing that caring and acceptance are keys to helping people overcome fear, open up to experience, and in turn open up to the experiences that life can deal. While being empathetic, accepting and genuine, I help people to view other perceptions while helping them stay emotionally connected to those they love and care for. I believe in helping my clients go wherever they need to go in order to discover and uncover the challenges that block them from reaching their full potential and authentic self which hinders them from living a happy, healthy productive lives.
On a personal note, I have been married for 34 years and have known my husband for 42 years. We have been blessed with three children; a 37-year-old son, 33-year-old daughter, and a 29-year-old son. We have faced many challenges and successes while raising children and keeping a marriage strong. Through perseverance, dedication, communication and connection, we continue to grow and embrace all of our experiences as a family.
